The Newington Heritage Society, Inc. was formed by concerned citizens in January 2014 to restore historical sites and improve the overall look of the town. The Town of Newington has a population of 350 residents. The Town has a full time police department, volunteer Fire and Rescue department, water and sewage facilities and two public parks. The Newington Heritage Society and the Town of Newington have partnered together on several projects to increase the quality of life of our small town.

Stan Ridgeway from Stone Mountain, Ga painted the mural in September of 2016.
The Mural was dedicated during our Veteran's Day Celebration.

On December 3, 2016, the Dollar General opened a store in the Town of Newington. The Dollar General brought food, clothing and many other products to the residents of Newington.
The Newington Depot/Museum is currently being built to replicate the original train depot. The depot will contain old photos of Newington history, stories of times gone by and memorabilia of Newington through the years.
The depot is being built as funding becomes available.
Currently the foundation has been completed. The concrete flooring was stamped and stained to resemble an older 2X12 board.
Next steps will be to dry in the structure. This will include all walls, roof system including the metal roofing and exterior siding.
We estimate it will cost between $60,000 to $75,000 to complete. Current funds amount to $16,000.
We appreciate any, and all donations, toward this project.
